The deadline has been extended to reach more of our adult population.
The New Canaan Behavioral Health Alliance, a coalition of more than 45 local organizations working to raise awareness of behavioral health resources in town, has extended the Community Health & Well-being Survey by one week, through Sunday, November 8.
The first round, in October 2024, drew 1,490 responses from roughly 10.5 percent of New Canaan adults. It found that 47 percent of residents were unsure or unaware of where to seek help for a mental health issue, and that one in three parents did not know where to turn if their child was struggling. The New Canaan Community Foundation responded with Survey Response Grants to six local organizations. Those grants funded parent workshops, mindfulness circles and free support groups for residents raising children while caring for aging parents. This second round shows what has changed.
The anonymous survey takes 5 to 10 minutes and is open to all New Canaan residents 18 and older and parents of New Canaan students. Every adult in a household should respond separately, and parents with children at home will see a few extra questions about their kids. Take it at newcanaanbha.org
