Spotlight on Caffeine & Carburetors Automotive Assistance Program
Classic cars lined up at Caffeine & Carburetors, a community event that raised funds for the new Automotive Assistance Program.
In late June, Caffeine & Carburetors wrapped up its biannual event, drawing thousands downtown and raising more than $15,000. This year, a portion of the proceeds launched the new Caffeine & Carburetors Automotive Assistance Program, managed by the New Canaan Community Foundation through our Touch A Life Fund.
Through this initiative, NCCF works with C&H Auto and the Department of Human Services to provide up to $1,000 in essential car repair support for residents facing financial hardship. Any additional funds needed will be supported by the Touch A Life Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to New Canaan residents. Repairs are being completed locally by C&H Auto, which has already helped several residents through the fund.
“When we talked more about an opportunity around car repairs, and the importance of critical maintenance to help families keep working and getting kids to after-school programs, it really resonated with the mission of Caffeine & Carburetors,” said Lauren Patterson, President and CEO of NCCF. “This project is exciting for the Community Foundation because it brings together different partners and interests while ensuring that dollars are meeting a real community need.”
Claire Drexler, C&C Director of Business Development, said C&C plans to support the new Automotive Assistance Program on a continual basis, and even hopes to expand it—for example, by providing a second vehicle to a family that needs it.
