Announcing First Grant from the New Community Behavioral Health Fund

The Impact of Your Dollars on the Community Behavioral Health Fund

To Our Community,

We are thrilled to announce the progress of the Community Behavioral Health Fund since its launch in May.

The first grant of $50,000 from the Fund will support the New Canaan Urgent Assessment Program. Led by Silver Hill Hospital, this program launched last July and connects those in urgent need of mental health treatment with a timely, psychiatric assessment – within 48 hours – and tailored referral for ongoing care. The program serves children, adolescents, and adults and saw 120 people in its first year as it steadily ramped up operations.  Your giving ensures that any New Canaan resident accessing the program does so without cost.

Through the Community Behavioral Health Fund, NCCF is working to improve access and reduce barriers to behavioral health care in our community. The Fund builds on the Foundation’s previous 5 years of work in this space, and is envisioned as a multiyear initiative with the initial goal of investing $500,000 over the next 5 years of this work. The Fund was launched with a generous $200,000 challenge match from a group of anonymous families – and we are now only $10,000 away from reaching the match! You can still donate here.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we strive to create a healthy and connected community that openly embraces all aspects of mental health and well-being.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Lauren Patterson
