Are you a New Canaan resident attending a non-profit educational organization like college or graduate school? Do you have a demonstrated need for financial assistance to continue your education?
We might be able to help! Follow these steps to apply for a Sapienza scholarship.
New applicants should:
Complete the online scholarship application which requires:
- Submitting a Student Aid Report, either from a CSS Profile for a Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
- Providing the Financial Aid Award letter from the school you will attend.
- Writing a Statement of Financial Need, outlining the family’s overall financial situation and the need for assistance.
- Requesting an official transcript, which should be sent directly from your most recent school.
- Submitting a letter of recommendation and an essay from the college application process.
Returning applicants who have maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible to re-apply for scholarship assistance. The process is simplified:
Complete the online application:
- Providing updated financial information.
- Requesting a current transcript from your school.
All award decisions are made in June and payments for each semester are sent directly to the non-profit school. Typical scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $4,000 per year.
Applicants with a demonstrated history of community service can ask to be considered for the Dorrico Rotary Scholarship as well.
Nonprofit Organizations who manage scholarship programs of their own are eligible to apply for a Sapienza Scholarhip Block Grants with which to provide scholarship funds to students or clients with high academic motivation, who show great promise in their field of study, and who may not otherwise be able to afford to continue their education.
