Everyone can be a philanthropist!  Students can share their time, talent or treasure. Join us to take action for the common good, and make a difference.

The Young Philanthropists Program is a unique educational opportunity for New Canaan high school students, who learn about the role of non-profit organizations in addressing community needs. The group learns about services provided by non-profits, and explores how these organizations are supported financially. Participants attend evening meetings once a month during the school year with the President & CEO of the Foundation as well as a Board member and other adult mentors.

Group of teens. The program consists of a structured curriculum and participation in a grant making process. Students work collaboratively to establish a framework for investing in important community resources. The team reviews grant requests, makes decisions about funding non-profits, and presents awards. Students also participate in a fundraising effort to support the program and learn about development. The program culminates in students participating in the annual grant award event in May, making awards to selected non-profit organizations.

The program encourages social and philanthropic responsibility and is an excellent complement to programs that focus on direct community service and volunteerism.

Registration is open for the 2022-2023 School Year. Please contact Meg Soffen with any questions.
