Town of New Canaan Proclamation
New Canaan Community Foundation
Whereas, the New Canaan Community Foundation was founded 30 years ago on September 26, 1977, by a group of local philanthropists who wanted to ensure that New Canaan would always be a special place to live and to improve the quality of life for others; and
Whereas, the mission of the New Canaan Community Foundation is to promote community philanthropy and help donors achieve their charitable goals; and
Whereas, the annual grant review process is extensive and involves site visits and thoughtful discussion by the entire Board of Directors before grant allocation decisions are made; and
Whereas, the New Canaan Community Foundation has awarded $3.8 million in grants to local non-profit organizations, focusing on capital costs and new projects or start-up organizations; and
Whereas, the New Canaan Community Foundation has funded essentially every non-profit organization in the Town of New Canaan, as well as many non-profit organizations in surrounding towns whose services impact affect New Canaan residents; and
Whereas, the Town of New Canaan is very proud of the accomplishments of the New Canaan Community Foundation in the last 30 years and the assistance given to our local non-profit organizations and, in turn, to the residents of our Town;
Now, therefore, I, Judy A. Neville, First Selectman of the Town of New Canaan, do hereby proclaim September 26, 2007, as New Canaan Community Foundation Day in the Town of New Canaan.
Judy A. Neville
DATED THIS 18th DAY OF SEPTEMBER 2007
