Devastation in Haiti: How You can Help

NCCF Shares Our Community’s Concern for the People of Haiti.

If philanthropy’s mission is to serve the common good, this is indeed one of those moments.
As daily news reports illustrate the devastation and desperation in Haiti from the January 12th earthquake, we should do our part to support the immediate rescue and relief aspects of the disaster. Across the nation, Community foundations are also responding to the recent disaster in Haiti, giving their donors recommended options for contributions.

The 4th Annual Touch A Life Lincheon will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Roger Sherman Inn in New Canaan at 12 noon. Our guest speaker will be Elaine Zimmerman, Executive Director of the Connecticut Commission on Children.

Contributions received at the Luncheon are the main source of funding for the Touch A Life Fund. Last year over $16,000 was added to the Fund from the Luncheon.

NCCF Grant Deadline is February 15th
January 11, 2010

New Canaan Community Foundation now has two main grant programs that can help support your not-for-profit organization. Applications for both programs are due February 15th.

We are continuing the legacy of the United Way of New Canaan with the Neighbors United Program, providing operating funds to health and human services organizations, and our Community Impact Fund will make grants for capital expenses and new programs as well as operating expenses to organizations that do not fall under the health and human services category.

All applications forms and supporting materials can be found on this web site under the Publications and Applications tab. When filling out the grant application, the organization does not indicate from which fund they are seeking. However, the applying organization must indicate whether they are seekinig capital or operating support. NCCF’s Board will determine what grant making fund at the Foundation will provide the support.

If you have any questions, please contact Executive Director, Cynthia Gorey at 203–966-0231 or info@newcanaancf.org.
