Sapienza Scholarship Fund
The Anne and Anthony Sapienza Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 through a bequest from New Canaan resident Anne Sapienza. The goal of the Fund is to provide scholarship assistance to New Canaan residents seeking to further their educations but who are unable to do so because of financial limitations. Scholarships are not limited to high school seniors applying to traditional four-year colleges. Adults seeking to further their education are also eligible to receive assistance, as are residents attending a community college or other qualified educational institutions.
Completed applications will be due at the Foundation by April 2nd and awards are made to the recipient's schools directly, generally for the upcoming academic year.
Criteria for selecting scholarship recipients are based on principles identified by Mrs. Sapienza, as well as financial need. These guidelines include community involvement, academic achievements, and commitment to the applicant’s chosen course of study. Residents who are planning to attend full-time four year college programs are encouraged to apply, as are residents who hope to attend two-year college programs or other accredited educational institutions. Students who attend school part-time are also eligible for the Sapienza Scholarship program. Adults returning to school or attending for the first time are especially welcome to apply for assistance.
If you have any questions or for more information about the Fund, please contact the Foundation’s office at 203-966-0231.
